Altra traccia in inglese per l'album "Caetano Veloso" del 1971, la musica è scritta da Gilberto Gil, mentre Caetano si occupa del testo.
Caetano, che si trova a Londra in esilio è ovviamente in una situazione emotiva scossa e angosciata e questo si riflette anche nei suoi testi, a volta in maniera velata a volte in modo più diretto ed esplicito.
In "In the hot sun of a Christmas day" ad esempio ci sono riferimenti all'essere inseguito e alla solitudine.
Dal punto di vista musicale la canzone si discosta dalla produzione abituale di Caetano, ma in questo caso ci può stare perché la musica come detto è scaturita dalla penna di Gilberto Gil.
Una ballada solenne con l'arrangiamento come al solito molto curato, nel canto Veloso dimostra tutta la sua abilità e versatilità.
La canzone non è mai stata eseguita dal vivo.
